The 2018 Old Mill girls soccer team was very strong this year. They had their ups and downs and pulled it together to make an exciting season with great memories. They finished with a 7-6-2 record in the regular season.

During the playoffs the team had a powerful start. They ended up having a first round bye. In the second round they lost a tough game to Arundel by a score of 1-0.

Junior Harley Jacobs was named a captain, she felt honored and was surprised when she heard the good news. Jacobs described her strengths and weakness;

“I don’t always communicate, and I need to work on stepping to the ball sometimes, but I’m pretty good at staying calm and focused.”

Jacobs and Senior Sydney Lallier made first team all-county and Senior Braelynn South and Junior Celia Metzger made second team all-county. Honorable mention was given to Senior Morgan Argubright. Sophomore Jaden Stiffler and Metzger led the defense throughout the season and Sophomore Rebecca Verdi led most of the offense through central mid field.

“This was by far one of the best seasons I have been a part of,” said head coach Lauren Carrier. “We had one of the smallest teams, but it was full of players who worked hard on the field and for each other.”
