Introducing Old Mill Varsity Girls Basketball Team…… WOAAAHHHH. We have Alayshia Dailey, Brandi Hall, Teyla Dawson, Rebecca Lee, Sydney Falcon, Destiny Galloway, Imani Parker, Julia Bagnell, Hannah Franklin, Maya McBride, Deja Atkinson, Brianna White, and Brenna Smith. The Patriots are a very competitive team throughout the county and they are really hard to beat.

Our seniors on the team are Brandi Hall, Alayshia Dailey, Teyla Dawson, and Rebecca Lee. The team as one dominates everyone that comes its way. They have a way of playing together that works for them. Sometimes they might be off their game but in the end, the win will be good. Most of the team are saying they are looking forward to the State Tournament and seeing what it holds for them. Others are either looking forward to improve their game or just enjoying their year and playing well with their teammates.

“I need to work on my attitude on the court,” Alayshia Dailey said.

Some of Dailey’s weaknesses are not being able to do things with her left like she can with her right. Dailey believes in her team which lost in the regional finals last year.

“Yes we are going to go undefeated in the county, we only get competition from outsiders,” Dailey said. During the week Dailey’s schedule is: she gets up for school , comes home, eats, goes to practice or a game, comes back home to shower, eat, do homework and go to sleep. Then she does it all over again.

“I need to work on my defense and aggressiveness,” Brandi Hall said.

Hall said one of the team’s weaknesses is communication on the floor.

“The most difficult (game) I’ve played is St. John’s, Howard, and McDonough. The three teams are very challenging and talented,” said Hall.

During the week Hall’s schedule is she gets up for school, comes home, eats, goes to practice or a game, comes home to shower, eat, do homework, and go to sleep. Then she does it all over again.

“I need to improve on my dribbling and my left hand shooting,” Teyla Dawson said.

Some of Dawson’s weaknesses are getting her shot off fast enough. Dawson also believes her team has a chance to go to states. During the week, Dawson’s schedule is: she gets up for school, goes to CATN, comes back to school, go to practice, go home, eats, showers, and sleeps. Then she does it all over again.

“I need to work on jumping more for the ball,” Rebecca Lee said.

One of Lee’s weaknesses is her knee injury that happened last season. Lee also believes that they will go undefeated in the county.

“We play some good teams that should help us for states,” Lee said.

During the week Lee’s schedule is she gets up for school, goes to all classes then stays after school to do any homework, then gets ready for practice, goes home, eats, showers, and then repeats.

The one common factor for all of this year’s Old Mill girls varsity basketball team including the seniors above is that they are all dedicated to winning and have made the sacrifice of their time and energy to make this year’s team the best it can be.
